I re-installed the 2.76 needle jets and set the needles to position #3 again. This eliminated the problem with EGT over temp on the left but I still have it on the right. I just made a trip around the pattern today and the right temp got to 1700 before I pulled it back.

The Bing tech rep said he felt it was probably the needle jets as well, so I'll be ordering a set of 2.78's and see what gives. Past that I don't know where I'm going to go other than maybe sending the carb on to Bing or look into throttle body injection. :(

    Bob,
You should be aware that the needle jet and the jet needle come as a matched pair, so should be replaced or changed both together.

The needle jet and jet needle don't come as a matched pair. It would make sense to change both as either could be worn, but this would allow more fuel and lower EGTs.

Hi guys. Mark is right the needle jet and jet needle are not a matched set in the CV64. They may be in the other Bings, I don't know. There is only one size jet needle in the CV64.

I haven't installed the 2.78 needle jets yet as they sent me the wrong ones at first and its just been too cold and messy. If the 2.78 doesn't get me into the ball park when I get them installed I'm going to send the right carb to Bing to see if they can find anything. If they can't find a problem I'm seriously considering the throttle body injection.

I'll post again when I get the new jets in and get it back in the air.

I am aware that this thread is pretty old. However, it reads very interesting.
@war1ock, do you remember what finally helped to solve the issue? Did the larger needle jets do the trick?
