Where can I find qty of fluid to be added to a new engine.

    Hi William,

This can vary slightly engine to engine application. Things like thermostats, cooler sizes and hose length runs can be different. That said they aren't real far apart.

A normal oil change would be 3 liters of Aero Shell Sport Plus 4 when you only drain the oil tank and install a new oil filter.
(If you use quarts that is 8 oz. less than the three liters.)

If you are installing oil for the first time fill it to the top plate that the oil dipstick sits on. If you fill it too high to start it just comes out from under the lid from the air pressure and makes a mess. I prefer to squirt oil down the outlet oil tank hose that goes to the cooler and pre-fill that hose, the oil cooler and the hose up to the inlet on the oil pump housing. This would give you a good start on getting rid of any air. After you rotate the prop approx. 30 times, stop and check the oil level in the tank and re-fill accordingly so the oil level doesn't get so low you start to pump air. I usually do a purge on a brand new engine a couple of times just to make sure and be on the safe side. For me it's a personal preference and it's better to error on the better side of caution than the oops side of things. Some people may not do the extra purging.
Some may do this a little different, but we all get to the same finish line. The idea is to fill the oil system and evacuate all the air. Bottom line is so long as you skin the cat and achieve the same final result then you can skin it more than one way.

The cooling system is approximately 3/4 -7/8 gal. depending on your engine hose lengths and accessories. .

Roger, thanks for the information. I am surprised that it's not in the Maintenance Manual....or is it and I couldn't find it.
Can you recommend a specific coolant?

Dexcool is recommended. Almost all coolants here in the US for autos is silicate free any more and have been since around 1995. I got that direct from Prestone.

Here is some interesting reading on coolant:

    http://www.caranddriver.com/columns/top-it-up-with-green-or-orange-which-antifreeze

You can pick because if you use most auto anti-freeze today and change it at the 2 year interval then probably most would work. I know some that want to leave anti-freeze in for 5+ years. I'm not a fan of that. Our system only holds approx. 3/4 gal. so there is no real reason not to swap it out every 2 years, 3 at the most. We're only talking about $15-$18 for a gal. and it only takes about 30 min. or less to change.

The old technology, a.k.a. "conventional," a.k.a. "inorganic," is green in color.
One of the new types is "organic acid technology," or OAT. It's orange. General Motors pioneered this chemistry starting with 1996 models in the U.S. and using the name Dex-Cool.

Automotive antifreeze has traditionally been GREEN. This is still the predominant color of antifreeze used. This antifreeze lasts an average of 40K miles.

An ORANGE antifreeze known as Dexcool is recommended for extended drain intervals (5 yr/150k miles). YELLOW also is an extended drain automotive antifreeze for Ford/Chrysler (5yr/150k) GO5.

Toyota has a RED automotive antifreeze.

Did I help or muddy the waters?

    Big help, thanks!
The factory supplied me with two qts of oil. I assume it's the type I am supposed to use. I can't find a qty for the oil, either. It must be there somewhere and I am going to check again.

    Thanks again.

The oil change is usually the full 3 liters of the Aero Shell Sport Plus 4. That usually puts you at the top limit on the dipstick. If you only use quart bottles of an oil that will be 8 oz. less than the 3 liters and show lower on the dipstick. Personally I would add the last 8 oz. if you use quart bottles.
