It's the squirrel trying to stop too fast. It hurts. :)

Hi guys, I had the same problem "screech" hand pulling the prop for a " burb" for oil level check on my
912uls. I change my oil every 35 hours and run 93 pump gas. I pulled the gearbox at 360 hours and sent it
To Lockwood. They reported back slight wear on the dogs. After a long conversation with them I decided to have them to the 600 hrs inspection / overhaul. My suspicion is one or more of my three prop blades were out
of pitch. I have a Kiev 3 blade GA. I checked my angles and they were out by as much as a .5 degrees.
I removed all the Chinese bolts holding the hub and blade shanks with AN spec and reset all angles, did
a blade track and bought a dyno vibe balancer. It was way out but after some serious measurements and
Dynamic balancing all is good. I am not a fan of GA propellers and am leaning towards FP Catto. The cost of the 600 hour gearbox overhaul was 800$. Shims, bearing and I think one gear. It's good now but the flying season has just started.
