I purchased a flying RV-12 from an estate. The coolant is a straw/amber color and can be seen in many photos of newly installed engines. Can someone identify the exact brand/spec of this product? I am frequently told to use Dexcool, but that is not what is there now and I do not want to cross contaminate fluids nor drain system yet. Thanks for your assistance.

Sounds like it could be Evans waterless coolant, which you certainly don't want to contaminate with water.

Sounds like Evans to me too. Don't use any water in this if you keep it and Rotax doesn't recommend it any more. Personally I would just drain it at a low point. Blow HARD down through the expansion tank on top
4-5 times and the system will be evacuated. Then refill with some DexColol 50/50.

Blowing down through the expansion tank isn't very scientific, but it works. B)

I had heard about Evans and did a test with a sample of the coolant. When mixed with water it mixed without any thickening or clumping. It appears to be a water based coolant, but still unidentifiable.

Thanks for your input. I may just do a drain and refill with Dex at 200 hours.
