My 912ULS engine is out of time However has only run 344 Hours the engine still runs as smooth as the day I installed it and showed no sign of metal on the magnetic plug and cylinder pressures are still well within spec
What is the procedure for extending the time on the engine
I have been told to buy a new engine? "surely Not"
Help

How can your 912ULS be out of TBO with only 344 hrs? Depending on the year of the engine you most likely have a 1500 or 2000 hr. TBO engine.
In the US once to TBO you are allowed to go "On Condition" past TBO.

    Thanks roger
the engine was mfg pre 2000 so 15 years are up
since I have maintain the aircraft myself I am having trouble finding a LAME to sign it off
I guess who i am asking is there a reg that allows me to sign the engine off myself "on Condition "

    Hi Brian,

That would be up to your countries regulations. In the US you can go on condition I don't know what each countries regs. are. Explain to your LAME about going on condition and see what happens or call your regulatory agency and get their input.

Brian, are you saying that there is a year and an hour TBO on your 912? Where do you live? My engine is 11 years old and I will not make TBO hours in the next 4 years, so I'm quite curious about this.

    Hi Alan,

The years and hours are in the manuals and Service Instruction documents under support here on the forum.
