good morning all
those who have exhaust probes on each cylinders can probably help.
i am wondering how much difference can be considered in exhaust gas temp between each cylinder from N°1 to N°4.
assuming cylinder 1 & 2 are in the direct air flow when flying.

    I really depends on the probe location and setup. They do tend to be a different from plane to plane depending on who put them in. If your instrument is digital vs analog can make some difference to as the digital tends to read in smaller increments and a much faster rate. Normal from what I personally see is anywhere from 10F - 80F. If the spread starts getting to 100F+ I tend to want to know why. If they are within about 15F they are usually considered the same. Spreads can be influenced by a carb sync, air leak, air filter cleanliness, air filter placement, plug gaps, the EGT probe's health, ect...

    Above 5000 rpm they all tend to even out somewhat.
    Below 5000 rpm the front cyls tend to be richer and therefore EGT's are lower....
    My experience anyway..

    They also have a life span 300 to 500 hours, my experience just saying.

    I agree about the lifespan, I am at 600 hours and am replacing my EGT probes.

    My life spans don't seem to be linear (some last longer than others).....
    I think I've changed 3 in 500 hrs...often I'll leave one working intermittently till next service.
    Other people I know have changed none in 600 plus hrs.
    I'm thinking vibration plays a role in how long they last.
    Possibly "ring mounted" engines vibrate less.....Mine is bed mounted...
