As long as it was properly soldered and insulated it should be Fine.
Was it the Orange or the Brown Wire?
The Orange Wire is the trigger coil and if it fails, one set of plugs will be disabled.
The Brown Wire is the Ignition Kill Switch, and if it fails the engine will just keep running.

It is probably the Orange (Trigger Coil) wire because your original complaint was the Ignition Module was not firing the plugs.
The is nothing wrong with your Key Switch.
If The Mag wires were gounded all the time the engine would never have started.
You were likely tryng to measure voltage.
The IGN terminals NEVER have any voltage on them.
The RESISTANCE (and Current) will change but the voltage is always ZERO!
