How hot is too hot, as in atmosphere temperature,  when flying a new 912ULS?

    The Limits section of the operating manual lists min and max operating temperatures:

    max = 50 C / 122 F (ambient temperature)

    min = -25 C / 13 F (oil temperature)

    Notice the max temp is ambient, and the min temp is oil temp.  This allows you to fly in colder temps as long as you warm the oil before starting.  Over 122 F is simply no fly.  Of course you also have to adhere to the other operating limits such as oil temp and coolant temp. Some aircraft will exceed these limits in ambient temps lower than 122 F.

    I don't know how high your summer temperatures get but here in eastern Australia, it is not unusual to hit 45C. Never mind the aircraft, think about your own comfort -  anything much over 30C is starting to get quite uncomfortable in a small aircraft, especially a low wing.

    When hot weather is forecast (30C+) I plan my flying so as  to start at first light, cool of the morning and if just local, end by mid to late morning. If I am going on a trip, same thing plus I plan for my last take off of the morning to occur well befog the peak temperatures of the day - its nice and cool at 7-10,000ft and not such a big deal to descend through the inevitable turbulence and rising cabin heat, to a landing, knowing that a cool drink is but a few minutes away.

    Lately our OAT has been right at 100 F from noon on. I'm comfortable enough with air vents, just a little concerned about oil Temps. Thank y'all for your inputs.
