Is it possible to make a video or a slide show video of all kinds of found faults, damage and wear and tear. E.g. Oil lines, fuel lines, etc. Changes caused by temperature influence on cylinders, sensors, etc.

    Hello
I have a Kitfox 7 with a 912 uls and would like to see a video on how the oil system works. I want to see how turning the prop gets the oil into the reservoir but doesn't return oil to the engine at the same time. I always worry about not getting a good oil check because how do you know if all the oil got back into the reservoir.
    Thanks
    Harry

    David,
The 200hr carb inspection is already covered in a 3 part video series.

    Harry,
Good suggestion for a oil system video.
You will always get some oil being pumped into the crankcase as you turn the prop. But, it is a small amount compared to the volume being forced back to the tank.
How the residual oil gets back to the tank?: As you slowly turn the prop, some of the compression pressure created by the pistons leaks by the piston rings. The crankcase is sealed so this "leakage" forces the oil back to the tank. viola! no need for a scavenge pump!
Consistency is important: rotate the prop until you here the 1st gurgle, stop and check your oil level. Yes you will get more gurgles if you keep turning the prop but when do you stop? you could do this for hours! with no benefit. Just turn until the 1st gurgle.
