Error: 403 - You are not permitted to use that link to directly access that page (#9899).

Hi,

Within the last  two weeks or so I have experienced  the above Error message (possibly 6 times), when I go to "post"/Save a reply.

When I return (arrow back) to the Forum the content of my response has disappeared - just happened a few moments ago.

How can I avoided loosing, up to 15 minutes, carefully constructed response?

Thanks very much for the heads up, and my apologies for the inconvenience.

That's the first I have ever seen of that error here, and my preliminary research indicates it's potentially a caching timeout error in our web framework.

Or possibly your browser is clearing its cache faster than normal? Or possibly it is due to some unfortunate network errors between your location and ours... I have to dig a lot deeper in our various logs and see if I can turn up some clues.

Which web browser and device are you using to access the site?  If you have a minute, please send an email to info@rotaxowner.com with your local IP address (discoverable by typing "whats my ip" into your browser address bar) - that would be very helpful for searching our server logs.

The only workaround I can suggest right now is this old standby from years past:

When composing lengthy posts for an internet forum, the safest thing to do is write them into a text editor, and then copy/paste them into the forum post and submit. If it goes through, close the text editor - but if it crashed, then you havent lost your post...

PS: I do see in our site back-end that there are some posts showing 'not checked in' and I think that is a symptom of your issue.

I will have to do some testing to clearly reproduce the problem ( and thus be able to verify a fix) but when that is done I will update this thread to confirm it is fixed.

PPS: have you logged out of the site recently? Our site is configured to leave you logged in for a long time, but if your local browser's session cache is getting corrupted, it might be helpful if you logged out of rotax-owner and then logged in again - that would give you a fresh clean session.

I believe I am logging out, every time I leave the Forum - is this not correct?
