Would switching from BR8ES to BR8EIX plugs improve my 582's performance?

    Frank,

I tried the iridium plugs in my 582 and could detect no improvement in performance. I left them in for a year and and went back to the BR8ES when I did my annual inspection. Based strictly on visual examination, I think they probably would last longer, but at four times the price I doubt they last four times as long. Since I change my plugs annually anyway, and saw no performance difference, I couldn't justify the extra cost.

    Bill.

Bills right. Most only think they see a difference, but you would need a dyno to see if there really was any. For the tiny bits of change you might or might not get trying to experiment then 99% of the time it isn't worth the trouble, expense and damage it may cause. If it runs good, you don't fall out of the sky then usually leaving factory things alone is best.

I have a Rotax 503 and I put the Iridium plugs,in my experience when putting the new plugs my idle went to 2800 RPM I left the idle to 2000 RPM with the B8ES, so Iridium gave me 800 RPM more. I was eager to fly with my new plugs, to tell you the truth I did´t feel much difference on the flight, what really happened most with the Iridium plugs is that I burn less gas, same power less gas.
