During the last 5 flights or so...I have noticed my EGTs getting cooler and a bit uneven...they used to be very well matched at 600c...not had the plugs out yet to look at the colour,

My CHTs are still as always and very much the same as each other,

My engine is a fan cooled dcdi 503 and has only done around 30 hours from new...its about 1 year old.

Any ideas guys.

Nick.

    Hi Nick,

EGT's are usually cooled by additional fuel. The cooler one is getting more fuel. EGT's are rarely perfectly equal and a small difference can be expected. How wide a gap are you talking about? What has changed with the carbs or fuel system?

About 40c difference...but I would say there now both reading lower than they where from when I fitted the engine last summer,

Nothing has been altered on the engine fuel wise in fact no work at all has been done to it...the engine and carbs where new out of the box last summer,

When I first fitted the engine on my trike the EGTs where almost on the max book temp so I raised both needles one slot and that got the temps to where I felt ok with them....and they where spot on even...but that was 12months ago.

Nick, have you tried a visual inspection of the probes? Then clean them if necessary. Swap them over and see if the temp difference follows the probe. Have a look at the carb barrel movement. Make sure they are operating in sync.

Hi John no not looked at the probs or swapped them around...I am going to leave that till after have checked a few more things...the EGT clamps that go around the manifold are quite fragile I find and I dont want to disturb till I have to,

I am going to check the carb sync,

I have added a picture of the plugs...took them out today...the 2 on the left are the pto end...I know one out of each cylinder looks cleaner but they where cleaned separately about 5 hours ago,

Do they look like plugs from an engine with mismatched EGTs.

Hi Nick the plug on the left looks like it is running leaner than the rest thats odd the matching one looks rich.
