Has this engine run ok at any time in your ownership...

Careful weakening mixture without being sure thats your problem...be good to know your EGT in the cruise and max power.

I replaced the main jets with 155s, egts have come up slightly from 900F at full power to around 950. The max rpm remains the same, at the same throttle setting about 3/4 and remains the same through full slide opening. The engine has at most 7 hours on it, including ground running. However it sat for many years in another plane before I started it for the first time in September. With the IvoProp I can adjust all of the pitch out of it and that makes no difference in the max rpm (6000) the engine makes.

Have you verified or checked your Tach to ensure it is accurate?

950f is around 500c thats low.

Should be seeing 1150f ish or 625c

Indicating rich petrol/air mix...but it should run fine on std jetting from the Rotax manual....an over pitched prop will give you low EGTs just like to rich a jet will.

Rotax know there stuff re jetting and is should be pretty dam good with std Rotax book numbers....the air-filters not restricted is it.

I would try and find out the correct prop spec...if you cant fine it down anymore int maybe the wrong spec.

Be VERY careful weakening the mixture on a 2 stroke without a VERY good reason...dont fall into the trap of chasing low or high EGT with jetting alone.

As Den says also be sure the tach is accurate.

Those Tiny Tach types on ebay are very cheap and accurate.
