17mm ID coolant hose, not available in USA??-

Sort of true Roger.;What you can do though, is purchase molded/shaped hose, with ID from 16.5 to 17 mm. These hoses have sufficient length/straights to cut  & make your coolant hose.

Dont know if any of the following Gates part numbers are available in the USA:

02-1579  16.5mm

02- 1249 16.5mm

02-0912 16.5mm  x 755 mm long

02-1415 17.00mm x 280mm long (see below)

Gates Silicone comes in ID 16mm (5/8) straight & formed. Silicone hose is usually super stretchy, so I assume  16mm will push on to a 17mm spigot/barb.

In the USA we don't have access to all the metric hose that other places have. Here we'd have to buy standard US hose which is either too big or too small. And because most use the spring clamps you really need the correct size hose. True a small number have used standard US hose, but they have to remove the spring clamps and use something like a wormdrive clamp. It isn't a good idea or a good fit.

In this case It's better for people to use the Rotax 17mm coolant hose.

Gates is a USA manufacturer  - in Australia almost all of its products come with imperial measurements, followed by a rounded metric eg

Gates Silicone 5/8 ID PN 24810 (15.875 mm) 16mm  

Gates is also in Europe (metric) and I don't know maybe other places.

# Given the lack of 17mm ID straight coolant hose in the open market - has anyone tried silicon 5/8" (16mm) ID silicone hose (supposed to be extra stretchy) onto 17 mm OD push on spigot/barb???
