ROTAX Releases New Mandatory Service Bulletin: Inspection and Replacement of Oil Spray Nozzle for ROTAX® Engine Types 912 i, 915 i, and 916 i (Series)

We have initiated a discussion in this forum to address any questions you may have regarding the information presented in the video and SB.

What is this about?

This Mandatory Service Bulletin (SB) requires inspection and possible replacement of the oil spray nozzle in specific ROTAX® 912 i, 915 i, and 916 i Series engines, including certified and non-certified models. It addresses a manufacturing issue where excess LOCTITE® at the sprag clutch housing or oil spray nozzle could block the nozzle, leading to inadequate cooling and potential stator damage, which may result in LANE failure.

What you need to do:

If you own, operate, distribute, or service ROTAX® 912 i, 915 i, or 916 i engines within the specified serial number range, or if you have spare parts listed in the bulletin, you are required to take action!

  • Review the Service Bulletin to determine if your engine or spare parts are affected.
  • Check engine serial numbers and production dates against the affected engine list.
  • Check for any prior installation of the overhaul kits listed in the Service Bulletin.

Deadline for Compliance:

  • Compliance is required at the next scheduled maintenance or within 25 operating hours (but no later than 1 year from the issuance of the bulletin).
  • For undelivered engines and spare parts, compliance must be met before initial installation.
