Hello to all
i think that everyone needs to get to the same understanding of what terms are.
For example, original equipment manufacturer, OEM. This is someone like Tecnam, Auto Gyro and the like. Homebuilders are building from plans or from a kit produced by an OEM. When you are the builder then all the materials and procedures in the installation manual have to be done according to the call outs in that manual. The OEM is expected to do the testing on his proof of concept aircraft and if you have a kit based on that it should be the same however you must confirm this by your own testing.
Items like the exhaust can be perfect when they leave a factory however they can fail. If you do not understand how to test back pressure then seek out a repair station that has the equipment and can do that. We see this a lot in the field on older aircraft. They do not stay new forever.
Detonation, fuel issues, are complex. Stop using the cheapest fuel you can find. Save your engine and use better fuel. Storage of fuels for long periods is not wise and your internal carburetor parts varnish with auto fuels. Injected engines foul the injector parts inside leading to many issues like rough running and hard starting.
On the soft start I am aware that some people use a relay for the soft start power, that is a big mistake. The soft start should be wired to power only off the start solenoid. In that way they cant get too much electrical drop and unless shut off they should not activate again as the power circuit from the solenoid is off.
Just my opinions
Cheers

That SB was moved to an "R1, revision 1, November 11, 2024. The changes are shown, look for the hash lines on the left margin to see those changes on the SB
Cheers
