I have been attempting to track down a "squeal" when transmitting that developed recently. During this procedure I was operating the radio(engine stopped, battery plugged in a "battery maintainer", master ON, mags OFF. During this entire procedure I probably used the radio for a total of 2 hours over a couple of days. I unplugged one wire to the hour meter so I would not be recording "tach time". The problem turned out to be my ANR headsets. Both, believe it or not!!
Anyway, after I discovered the problem I pushed the a/c out to start up. NO START.I am using the exact same procedure as the last 200 hours. Throttle idle. full choke. and fire up. Not this time. Any ideas?? Is there some reason because I was using the master switch ON without running for an extended period that would cause some disconnect to the ignition system. It did not fire at all.
I know this is very bad information in order to make a judgement but I thought I would ask the experts before digging into it further.
Thanks
Don

    Hello,

    Check:

    1. fuses?
    2. battery empty?

    Good luck!

    Hi Don,
The first thing I think of is a weak battery. The rpms need to hit I think 200 before the ignition system will produce spark. I am thinking this might be your problem.

I'm sure you did this as well, but I would retrace all wires I disconnected, messed with and check any connections that might of been disturbed by this process.

hope it's something simple, let us know what you find ; Kevin

Thanks for the ideas, but I keep the battery on a "battery maintainer" all the time (unless I am flying).Battery fully charged. The engine turns over at normal cranking speeds.
The only wire disconnecting I did (other than radio connections) was removing one lead from the hour meter (which I replaced).
Both "choke" levers fully activate. There is fuel. It was +6C and has been always hangered. My last flight on December 31 was 1.8 hours and everything was normal (except for the mic feedback squeal).
    Mystery?

    Hi Don,

Check if the spark plugs will produce sparks when cranking. If there is fuel as you stated and there are sparks the engine should fire.

Very curious what the cause is.

    Hello All
Today I pulled one lower plugs :) and it appeared to be slightly moist so I put some heat to the engine (it was right at freezing here today) for about 30 minutes. It fired right up. A couple of puffs of smoke to clear the cylinders and all is fine. Guess I just flooded it yesterday.
Also I was probably a bit paranoid/frustrated after mucking around with those headset feedbacks for a couple of days. I find checking out radio issues a real test of ones patience. It seems like a "black art" at times. Thanks to all that replied last night.
    Cheers
    Don
