You may also be experiencing that the piston rings on this particular cylinder has seized. That you may have had slightly high CHT/EGT`s on the engine or maby this one cylinder. Even carbon build-up may have caused the rings to be slightly stuck, and once warmed up they loosend back to normal ?

But indeed, turning the prop the wrong way may drain your oil galleries and may cause a lifter to collapse. But on the other hand, that wouldent cause a low compression. This would only cause the valves to not fully open. They would still close just fine.

Appreciate all the input. I am 99.999% sure I did not rotate the prop backwards so I don't think it is that. No apparent high temps, though I do only have a probe on one cylinder. I'm due for an oil change in 4 hours so I'll do a compression check at that point to see if anything has changed. Thanks again!

Try the compression check hot, then cold. If you have a valve problem you will probably find out during the cold compression check and you will hear the air coming out either the exhaust or air filter.

When I hand prop my cold engine all cylinders do not feel the same and some are a bit more "stiff" than others. What you are experiencing might well have more to do with turning a cold engine than anything else. You normally run your compression checks on a warm engine to determine if things are OK. I have heard experienced guys say that they will first run their compression check on a cold engine and if it passes when cold it saves them the time and trouble of heating the thing up for the “real” compression test.
