Hi Roger that is worrying because the only person that serviced the engine was a rotax authorized dealer here in Australia.
The engine has done 351 hrs with piece missing l didn't think that was possible you can see the marks on the barrel where the spring has been rubbing the barrels must be very tough.
l will put on so photos.

    Hi Geoff,

    WOW,

That's something. The cylinders are Gilnisil. It's a very hard nickel type coating. It takes a Dimond hone to even touch it. If the cylinder is messed up don't bother trying to hone it. Someone may have broke it on the install and didn't catch it. I don't know for sure and that is strictly a guess on my part.

What symptoms did this engine have that lead you to this find?

    Hi Roger

The previous owner said that it has always ran rough on start up once it got warm it would run reasonable but during a flight it would run rough then come good he flew it like that for years .
When l purchased the aircraft the aircraft needs a total rebuild but before removing the motor l ran it to see how it was running it ran so rough that l though it would come off the mounts it had a spark issue the leads where shorting out once l fix that problem it ran reasonable but number one exhaust wasn't very hot l could put my hands around the pipes and wasn't very hot not like the rest couldn't touch them .
It had plenty of spark l pull the head off ,the exhaust valve had that much carbon build up it is lucky it work then removed the barrel and that is what l found.
    cheers Geoff
