Hi guys,

I have 912UL with ~800 hours on it.installed as pusher.
There is a great noise coming out of the gear. The engine is working smooth and no special "tics" sound when increasing or reducing the RPM.
There is a permanent fix "teeth wheel" noise coming out of the gear that seems to be greater then it should.

The engine never had a prop strike or any other damage.

Any ideas?

You may have pitted/spalled gearset. The best way to confirm this is to performing a dynamic prop balance; if the balancer keeps telling you to move the weights around you have a bad gearset. If you do then check the fuel pump (remove, empty of fuel and shake it: if you hear a rattle the vibrations have broken it). This vibration may also damage the carbs, exhaust and even the rudder pins. Watch the carb sync video!

To avoid pitted gears: sync the carbs, avoid low idle, balance the prop, use good oil and change it frequently. Also always keep in mind this is NOT a motorcycle or snowmobile, it is a piston powered, geared engine with a huge inertia on the end (prop); Avoid rapid throttle movements! Get it running smoothly! Keep it running smoothly! Ask any Continental GTSIO-520 operator, they are an awesome engine, if the guy with the throttle in his hand knows what he is doing.
