If you live in a humid or wet climate you can use some Boeing T9 to spray on exposed metal parts. It was made for the Boeing aircraft company just for this reason. I used it on my dive compressors that floated in saltwater and it will keep the moisture off and the rust away. Won't hurt any wires or connectors and will help them too. If I lived in a humid climate I would use it 2-3 times a year. Just spray it on and walk away. If you have rust already it should be cleaned before spraying. It will stop that white corrosion on your aluminum too.
