providing the gears and all splines are OK you will need 2 disc springs, 2 clips and a selection of shims.
I do recommend you get a trained person to do this work, otherwise you may be paying for a lot of learning curve!
I would send it to Lockwood.

    Thanks.

I agree I don't want to be paying someoneone to learn on my aircraft.... let alone to "learn from their mistakes" on my plane. ;)

I'm trying to avoid having to pull it off and ship it anywhere.
If I were closer to Roger I'd fly it there.

Rainbow Aviation in Corning California has done many gearbox inspections I wager (they are the originators of the 120 hour Light Sport Mechanic inspectors rating certification courses) and with them being a two hour flight there from me I'd much sooner take it there than have to do a remove, ship it from Oregon to Florids, wait two weeks, and reinstall. Looking for someone even closer... but if can't find someone with the experience curve.

This should give you a starting point....

    Thanks Rhett,
But actually that diagram and list of ALL the thousands of dollars and hundreds of parts leaves me totally cluesless and to _which_ parts might be
(a)most _likely_ to have some wear significant enough to maybe worth proactively replacing while still good
    and/or
    (b) cheap enough and easy enough to replace so as to be well worth replacing "anyway" while the gearbox is open. ;-)

What I was hoping was the clinical/mechanical experience/judgement call on WHICH parts ;-) .

    Hi Rob,

Only Lockwood. Oh that hurts. :P

    Hey,
Would've long since flew it out and asked you to do it, if you weren't a 11 hour flight (and that would be non-stop, with no headwind, straight-line) to you.

While I've got your attention, though:

I'm guessing that a gearbox inspection is, among other things, since the gear box is part of the oil circulation system, going to require draning the oil and then a full oil system purge when refilling. Did I get that right?

Reason for asking is since we're close to due for an oil change seems if that's true, rather than changing the oil shortly before the gearbox inspection might as well have it done at the time of the inspection. Did I get that right?

Call rainbow aviation in corning,ca. I just completed their 120 hr repairman course recently and did the gearbox service. They have all of the proper tooling and experience. If u go to eaa.org video and search Brian carpenter, he's done approx 50 videos for them. I suspect all required parts are on in inventory.

Repeating something I asked earlier.. Which I hope has a simple answer, but got no response:
