Also, and the studs are only finger tight, or 26 inlbs if you have a tiny torque wrench.

I called Lockwood Aviation this morning and got the same advice, remove the stud, use a long tube and spray a solvent to clean the oil out in the thread area of the case, blow it dry and then use Loctite 5910 to seal the area and keep oil from coming down the stud.

I plan to go ahead and pull the cylinder, take a good look and then clean and try this fix if comfortable.

    Hi Ron,

I see you live in FL. Loctite 5910 is European. The US equivalent is Loctite 598. You can buy 598 in a smaller tube than 5910.

Thanks Roger. I actually goggled 5910 and found a post on your CT Flier website concerning this. One question, is Permatex 598 and Loctite 598 the same? It appears it is.

Most don't know that Permatex is owned by Loctite. Is 598 the same from both, maybe? I'm not 100% sure, but I do know some of their products seem to be. I read about these two and they seem to do the same job.

Permatex was sold to Loctite in 1972.

The Permatex Company was sold to Loctite Corporation. The business was moved to Cleveland, Ohio and integrated with the Woodhill Chemical Company. In the late 1970's, Woodhill Permatex launched Permatex® Blue Silicone which went on to become the largest selling blister carded chemical item in the American auto parts business.
