OK. Was finishing up annual on RANS S-12. Had oil spill over wiring. Engine on top in back...pusher. Regulator/Rectifier back there. I have not yet crawled back there to check if oil got into the R/R. Other wiring should not be effected.

Ran engine and now I'm getting constant charge light with good charge on battery.

Suggestions?

the charge warning lamp works by having both sides of the lamp connected to 12 volts. During normal engine operation they cancel each other out the lamp stays off. If the regulator stops putting out 12v it becomes a ground and the lamp illuminates.
Pull the large black connector off the regulator and check that the "L" wire and the "C" wire are showing 12v (with the master on).

This is assuming the aircraft is wired according to the standard Rotax drawing. Some aircraft use their own drawings.
Make sure you truly are getting an output from the regulator; the battery voltage should increase from 12 volts to 13-14 volts when the engine is running. If you are only getting 12v then the battery is not being charged and you have a regulator or generator problem.

Make sure electrical connectors inside are actually connected. You can slide the big plastic plug in, and actually push the metal connectors out the back. Also I had light come on on my s-14 with 912. Checked plug connections, and found plate regulator was bolted to was pop rivited to keel tube. It was very loose. Re-rivited and ran ground wire from regulator mount to a bolt on the engine. The regulator must be grounded. Hope this helps!

Rob, that L & C wire check for 12v with master switch on, is that with engine running or engine off? I assume it is engine off.
