Severe Jittering Oil Pressure

    This is a tough one. New housing and all. I haven't seen one that bounces top to bottom so badly.

    The newer style plug screw is aluminum colored and has a recessed head. The old style is gold colored and a flat head. I'm fairly sure you have a ball bearing on top of the spring. Toss it and put a new mushroom style in the spring.I would do this before anything else.

    Have you seen anything like this after two housings and bouncing this bad?

    Roger I'm 99%sure it's the mushroom valve that they put in ,but will confirm,as the bolt is silver and recessed,we did purge the system after replacing the housing,could an air bubble have been trapped somewhere in the system that didn't didn't remove itself during the purging process that has now emerged causing this????

    Air in the system, possible, but after a few runs or flights not very likely.

    If the new oil pump is from the factory and no one physically changed the ball bearing out it is still there.

    Hi Roger,removed the PRV this afternoon and yes it was the new mushroom style valve fitted,so we started from the beginning again,1 thing at a time,we changed the spring with one that had a little more tension and the severe fluctuations had gone ,we only had time for a ground run but we ran the motor up to 75 degrees right through the rev range and we where back to where we started with only slight pressure fluctuations of 3-4 psi although.the pressure increased a little with the new spring but i can live with that.Will fit cowlings and test fly this weekend and keep you posted. Here,s hoping it was only the spring

    Yep, hope it's the spring. Any easy fix.

    If it is go buy a lottery ticket.
