That's odd, why have these items changed as the engine was working fine for you initially, has someone exchanged the carbs?

    Hi Andrew,

No, my carbs have not changed, they are still the same. It is the ones that I have been loaned that are different.

I have also noticed that the float level in the ones that I have been loaned is wrong, the level is too high. This may go some way to counteracting the longer spring, lower needle and smaller jet. It's all a bit odd and doesn't help me diagnose my problem.

What I don't want to do is to buy another carb and find that it makes no difference. That is always an expensive method of fault
    finding.

Are you sure that by blowing the passageways etc. you did not dislocate the rubber diaphragms in the carbs? I
    It happened to me!
Do you have a serious mag drop?

When blowing high pressure air through all the orifices the diaphragm should be removed. High pressure air can split a diaphragm if left in place and the air directed in the wrong direction.

Don't worry folks, no diaphragms were harmed in blowing though of the passages! The carb was fully stripped before cleaning and drying.
