    Hi Eric,

The only real grease we usually use around fuel and oil is White Lithium Grease. This is because many greases are not compatible with fuel and oil. White lithium grease is completely compatible with both fuel and oil. If it does get into the system it dissolves and just goes through. If a hose with pressure gets grease it may be more prone to slide off since the grease doesn't evaporate.
Sometimes the old way works better.
A little spit, slobber or drool to slide a hose on (call it what you will :silly: ) works well because it does evap or dissipate.
Hec sometimes at the end of a hose change I'm as dry as a bone.  :P

I've seen this before. Adding some lithium grease to the gaskets does help them expand and create a good seal as everyone has said.

When I had a customer with this issue the carb bowl sealing surface was slightly deformed. Check it on a surface plate, if it isn't flat there's your issue. I was able to use some lapping compound to get it to re-seal. Keep in mind I was allowed to do that on an experimental aircraft only. There is no criteria or procedure in the Rotax manuals to do that repair so you may be looking at purchasing a new float bowl.

Awesome Roger! Thats makes a whole lot of sense. Hey, what kind of grease do you recommend using for the 17 mm hose install which has coolant passing through? White lithium as well?

    Hi Eric,

Absolutely no grease on any coolant hose. It isn't needed and it may allow too much hose to metal friction loss and it may come off under pressure one day. You can use a little, spit, slobber or drool whichever word you want to use to describe mouth lube. ;)

Use white lithium grease to treat your "O" rings. I also message the white lithium grease into my carb bowl gaskets. They never leak. White Lithium grease is fully compatible with oils and fuels. Other greases like synthetics are not and can cause some ugly problems if these greases get into your system.

I have used some heat from a heat gun on stubborn hoses always did the trick.
