    Hi Glenn,

Right now you're more under pitched and if you are over 5800 rpm at WOT then you may not even have a good climb prop. You can go too far either way with pitch and eventually it is a losing proposition. Strive to get 5600-5650 rpm in wide open throttle (WOT) in level flight at your average altitude. Start with a 4700 static on the ground rpm to get you in the ballpark. Then go fly and see what the WOT rpm is in level flight. Then make your final adjustment to get your 5600-5650 rpm.
If you add more pitch in to get the 5600 area rpm you will be faster and at a reduced throttle setting and you'll save fuel. Your prop is so flat you may even see better climb.

The nice thing about prop pitch is you can make adjustments until you get it right or where you like it.

Airspeed has nothing to do with this. Every plane's airspeed will be different due to design.

Thanks Roger. I now understand. My plane is a Tecnam P2008. My guess is it's under-pitched to keep it below the LSA speed limit.

Most LSA's won't break the 120 knot limit and if they do it is only by a few knots which can also be a speedo error. I have a 2008 Tecnam here at my field and he doesn't break the limit. Try it and see if you like it. I have his set up this way.

I will. Thanks for the guidance and information. It's a real shame we can't put some sort of constant speed prop on them and remain legal.

I just purchased a Tecnam Astore with the 914 and would love to add a constant speed prop, however I haven't seen a way to do it legally. I have converted the plane to ELSA but as I understand it there is no way to add an in-flight adjustable prop. Any updates on this subject?

Here is a video of my first flight after ELSA conversion, see if you can tell how much I had to adjust the throttle.
