Thanks for the advice, i will give it some thought.
Interestingly the version of the program i downloaded from flyrotax indicates its 32 and 64 bit compatible.
    The program is TCU46A.exe

Earlier today i actually got it to run on a 64 bit Samsung slate 7 tablet.
I had a procom usb to serial adapter plugged in and started the programme , the serial port selection box came up and i was able to choose the com port ( 11) in this case. And the tcu interface came up. It still showed a com port as com1 but im guessing the Com port selection screen is a bit of software that translates the com numbers actually used to be com 1 ?
So I will at the aircraft tomorrow and can try it out . If it doesnt work i can interface the tcu serial to my hexterminal programme , this will show raw data only but will be enough to look for changes in values as the rpm is varied.
Im lucky that i deal with rs232 in my everyday job ( industrial control systems ).
As to the prob in the 914 i think its coming down to fuel pressure being too low.
I can let you have updates if you are interested.
I thank you again for your kind helpmand offer.
    Regards

    @ Alan,

No worries! The problem with the compatibility is that it quite as well might not recognize the ports properly. If you're not getting the error anymore, that is great news!

As for the fuel, the pumps that come with the engine are not really powerful in order to be lightweight. That's why they have some height restrictions with respect to the engine, along with the fuel tank. In case you have not checked it out yet, there is a chapter somewhere in the installation manual, where the height location of the fuel tanks is described. So if you have the engine on a stand, you might want to raise the fuel tanks at about a a foot from the starter. Try this, and see what happens.

And yes, keep me posted on your progress with this issue!

    Thanks!

Hi all went well with the software today.
My instal onto th win7 tablet went well and was able to monitor and perform everything we needed.
We had some time so we tried another notebook on win 7 as well this one had a inbuilt com. It eent well also
Of course as it turns out we didnt need the software for diagnosis. By the time we were ready to try the software we had concluded that our issue wasnt in the boost .
It would not rev beyond 3k and surged until it starved and stopped.
After checking for steady fuel pressue and fuel pressure 3.6 psi above air box pressure , we changed out both carby bowls . Instant fix! The local Rotax agent suggested it. These new bowls have longer float guides and are slightly deeper. A sources says the bowls warp ! But at 400 hrs tt that sounds odd to me. More like a goof up in design that can be blamed on warping.
    Thanks again cheers .

The warping is due to overtorque of the bowl plug.
49 inch lbs is the correct torque.

Hello All.  I recently had to buy a new laptop for CAD work.  I cannot get the program to run.

Device manager screenshot looks OK, or am I missing something.

    Windows 10 Pro.
