My oil pressure is very slow to come up when the engine is started, but when she gets there it around 5 bar, I haven't been overly worried as I'm figuring it will be the sender, do you think I'm correct in my assumption.

After engine start-up the oil pressure is immediately 5 bar. In addition, I have noticed that my oil temp is relatively low: 80-90 degrees C. So it could be that the viscosity remains also relatively high explaining the 5 bar. After a long XC flight (5200 rpm) the oil pressure drops to ca 4 bar. Anyway I shall replace my VDO sensor.
My questions is: what is your oil temp @ 5 bar?

    Hi Jan,
Oil pressure typically is higher at first start with a cold engine and then drops as the engine reaches operating temps. The oil temp at 5200 depends on the OAT's. What is your OAT now? Oil temps can be around 190F - 220F depending on OAT's.

    Hi Roger,

OAT is around 15-22 degrees C.

Oil pressure will typically be around 3 bar(45psi) at idle just after starting and dropping to ~2.5Bar at idle after it warms up.

5 Bar(73psi) is Oil Pressure Red-Line! and should only ever be approached just at takeoff with 50°C (120F) Oil temps and WOT.

A typical cruise Pressure is around 3Bar (45psi) at 95°C(200F).
Here is the Oil pressure Profile from a typical engine.
