Is there a recommended frequency for doing a data download on the ROTAX engine using the BUDS software system

Cannot locate a manual reference for this

It is in the Line Maint. manual checklist for the 100 hr / annual inspections. When I do the logbook label I write in I found no error codes or what they were.

Everyone should be using their respective checklist for their inspections for whatever engine you use.
I print out an engine checklist and an aircraft fuselage checklist for EVERY inspection and fill it out and annotate in the margins everything I tweak, touch, change or repair. I hole punch it and give them both to the owner. This way they know exactly what I did, I don't miss anything and there is a good record of what is done for the next mechanic, owner or investigation. My logbook labels reflect the same. This will also keep the value of your aircraft at top dollar.
