I would definitely use the mushroom, I already tried it and it is a big improvement over the ball. The ball starts to wobble around it the oil flow thereby causing the oil pressure fluctuations. Make sure its safety wired.

    Will do then.

    Thx Garret!

    Hi all,

Just wanted to let everyone know that my low oil pressure is fixed!!!
It may actually be a little too high...

Finally got it back together. Removed thermostat, all hard bends and installed mushroom.

If I take off when oil temp is around 140, the pressure is at around 78.
Is this normal at these temps?

This pressure goes down as the oil temp warms up.

At temps of 230, the pressure never got below 40 psi and was solid...ya!!!

Just myself on a 60 degree day, cruising at 5200 rpm, i was seeing 230 temps and powered down alittle to get temps down. That'll be the next problem to fix...

The rotax mechanic blocked the cowl off when he mounted the oil cooler to the firewall.
I thought this was done to install the thermostat, but the thermostat was installed prior to the firewall oil cooler mount.
Hopefully I can cut a couple 1 inch holes in the cowl opening and everything will be good...it is never that easy though.

    Thanks for all the help!

I learned this back in the RC model airplane days, you need a bigger outlet than inlet on the cowl for cooling. The outlet needs to draw a vacuum to pull the air through, it won't work well if the air is being pushed through.

    Thx Garret,

I was researching and found that same thing.

I'll have to measure all inlet and outlets.
Do u remember and rough numbers like "outlet should be 1.25 times bigger than inlet" or something like that?
