I plan to weigh my 4 new ones when they arrive.

Do you pay the shipping of the old floats to you?  What kind of experimentation?  Will you publish the results ?

... odd w/ all the carbs that have come & gone from my life, ive never had float issues until rotax-bing  ???

Unbelievable that its still going on ... w/ engines stopping in flight no less.

In our 2016  912 uls, w/ but 450 hrs, we're on at least 3 sets now & its starting to get that rougher idle again, that seems to be an early symptom.  No engine outs, but my partner did have to take a bus back from baja the 1st time it happened!

Bill, another big thankyou for being here, i'll see if we still have any bum floats & if so, will contact you for shipping info.

Green Sky Adventures has replied, at last.  I have the Generation 3 of the HACman.  That unit uses a small orifice (hole) on the bottom of the engine bay side of the firewall manifold to provide a measure of ambient air pressure.  In the recent reply (pasted below), he indicates that he feels now that the orifice is "too restrictive" and that I should convert to providing the ambient pressure via the air filter as is the case with the Gen 2 HACman.  I had sent him an email stating that two of my EAA friends who fly RV-12s have the Gen 2 version and have never had any issues.

Please not that the issue of engine stoppage was likely not related to floats not floating.  After installing new floats, the same issue of very rough engine function at steep AoA and low RPM persisted (I did not push to engine stoppage this time).  As a result, I left the physical parts of the HACman installed but removed the tubing from the carburetor bowls and the engine manifold pressure line.  After that, the engine ran normally while doing stalls.

If GSA ever sends me the parts promised, I will definitely re-connect the HACman and give it a try with the air filter ambient pressure source.  I asked for them Mar 19 and have yet to receive a response from GSA.

    From GSA:

"I think it could be an issue with a low pressure zone at the breather on the HACman manifold when you go into the stall. I’m working on updating the manual and website to go to the Jabiru configuration for all the engine options because several customers have found that breather set up too restrictive for their set-up. I can send you the parts no charge to do that change over which will replace the breather on the HACman manifold with a fitting so that a tube can be run to your air filter or airbox, whichever the case may be. Could you provide an address to send USPS Priority Mail, and let me know if you require any additional 3/16” tubing to go between the manifold and airbox/air filter?"

I put in two new pairs with "R" markings last month. One pair was 3.2 & 3.2, the other was 3.1 & 3.2 (grams).
