Joe, that's great news, you must be relieved to have it fixed.
James, I suspect that the resistor works with the capacitance in the Dynon to form a low pass filter to attenuate any high frequency components that could accidentally trigger the RPM counter. At least the resistor is a reliable fix for the problem.
