I was always interested in the rationale behind Rotax's decision not to use the Bing floats. I used to think that it was something to do with the bank angle that you might get in an aircraft but you can also get similar angles on a motor bike. Even if that was the rationale, having the floats separated as in the Rotax solution doesn't make any different since it is only the one that floats the highest that pushes on the brass float lever.
If someone knows why Rotax didn't use the Bing floats I would like to know.

My "R" floats have held up for nearly 250 hours now, no issues.

Rotax used the Bing floats for many years until they started to sink. Rotax had to outsource other floats and went through several variations and manufacturers until they were able to find ones that finally worked... The R floats

Sorry, what I meant by the 'Bing floats' were the original ones as fitted to the BMW R100 motorcycle which joined directly to the float valve lever. This is what I was thinking of: https://www.sport-evolution.de/bmw-spezial/BMW-engine-and-performance/category-731/BMW-R65-R80-R100-float-for-Bing-carburettor.html?language=en
I know that Rotax have designed and supplied their own with the 912 series of engines but why when the carburettor already had one designed for it?
