I am trying get my Egts up a bit . Moving the clip did almost nothing. Can someone explain exactly when the clip should be moved to lean the engine? I am also changing the jet a little . It runs too high at high rpm with a 152 size jet.

    Hi Fred,

Moving the clip from the #3 slotted position to the #2 position should have raised the EGT approximately 80F +/-.

What runs too high with high rpm? The EGT?

I couldnt get the egt over 1400 at 5500 rpm so I tried a 152 jet  from a 155 .normal cruising at 5300 it runs around 1430 but as soon as I throttle up it goes over 1500 and I back it off.

I ordered 154 to try. But does moving the clips effect the high RPMS?

I always understood that the needle jet is pretty much out of play when you get near full throttle...

"When the piston and needle rise high enough, the orifice size from the needle jet / jet needle becomes larger than the orifice size of the main jet. Because these components are in series, the smaller of the orifices become the controlling factor"  – Rainbow Aviation

1st, make sure you are reading the EGT T° at the right distance from the cylinder

    Hi Fred,

Why do you want to go  over 1400? Most don't. It runs richer at those high rpms for a reason. There is nothing wrong with running in the 1300's at cruise rpm. Most people with a fixed pitch prop usually cruise around 5100 - 5300. Yes some people are lower or higher, but this seems to be the average. You play with those main jets and try to lean it out too much and you may put yourself in a detonation situation and it will be very costly.
