My 912ULS crankcase oil return (exit) fitting has the optional extended spacer between the bottom of the crankcase & nipple (Rotax name for hose connection).

The extension is not shown in the parts manual.

The old parts manual suggested using Loctite 243 on the threads - not in the new. Should I use the Loctite 243?

The installation manual is a tad ambiguous as to the tightening torques:

"...........banjo bolt......... 35Nm (25.8 ft.lb)"

".........oil return line...... 25 Nm (18.5 ft.lb.)"

No mention of the extension .

Can I assume the 25Nm refers to the metal oil return line option?

Can I assume that both extension & banjo should be 35Nm?

    Hi Sean,

Have you looked at the newest installation manual dated Jan 01 2021? On pages 193 and 194 it covers this and may be slightly easier to understand than the previous version of the manual.

    Sean,

I am curious what the extension looks like and it’s purpose. Do you happen to know and any chance you post a picture?

    Thanks Wade,

That certainly fills in some of the blanks - still no mention of Loctite 243 or any thread locker.

The thread on the extension had something on/in it, when I unscrewed it rom the crank case. Cant heart to use the 243 when I do the install.

    Hi Peter,

The extension is a hollow, hexagonal, fitting, with a female thread at one end & a male at the other. Didn't measure it but at a guess is about 25-30 mm long.

Male end goes in sump, banjo fitting into female end.

The whole assembly has safety wire holes.

Function? another guess; it makes accessing the oil return line that much easier.

I will take a photo when I put it back in  (next few days) and post it.
