My last Rotax 912ULS powered aircraft was a 2000 model. When sold it was 20 years old/ 920 hrs. The carburettor floats were the same age & still weighing well within specifications and doing their job.

Floats should not be a service item ie replaced within a short in service interval. My floats are 2019 /17 hrs, only had fuel contact from mid 2022 and are now weighing very close to the 7gm max permissible.

Why cant Rotax go back to the origional float quality?????

Old floats vs new. Different Mfg. The old floats were good.

Here was I thinking technology improves over time?

Seriously though - the person(s) responsible for writing/maintaining/overseeing standards, needs to be fired.

How can Rotax maintain any credibility, when one after another the NEW floats fail (now about 4 versions from the origional good float))- in my case its was about 15 operating hours, when I first noticed fuel in the catch can - and no warranty!.

Rotax doesn't make the floats. Bing is responsible for the floats all these years.

I heard through the grape vine or maybe the tomato vine that a change in float MFG caused the chemical compound to not be 100%.It took time to correct it. Just like Bing still uses cork gaskets where Rotax uses rubber bowl gaskets.

If anyone has the new R floats and they are sinking, beyond the weight limitations or causing issues, please fill out a CSIR so Rotax can be aware of the issues.
