That is just awful. I wouldn’t accept that for use on my lawn mower. Whoever did that work needs to be fired. What else is this company delivering to customers that is unairworthy and dangerous?

I seriously doubt that’s Rotax work. It’s probably something that happens after it’s out of their control. Looks like the work of a 5 year old mechanic.

Given that it was covered with heat shrink tubing and therefore not visible before sale, it's very possible that it was done by a subcontractor who produces the units for labeling and sale by Rotax. If Rotax didn't do a pull test on the crimped contacts, that wouldn't have been known to them either.

Like Roger, I have a hard time believing this is the work of the Rotax factory but I just don't know. I don't know what path it took from Rotax to me and who had their hands on it. I guess I'd just warn everyone against jumping to conclusions about who might have done what. My main goal here is just to warn others about this bad workmanship I encountered so you can be forewarned and on the lookout. I have reached out to a number of places in hopes that whoever did the lousy work will improve their process.
