BUDS is the diagnostic software from Rotax. It is available for free download at www.flyrotax.com/Tech support/documentation. search for all 912iS documentation.
Ask you aircraft manufacture about how they configured the output maintenance ports and how to get a dongle to read the information.

    Hi Sylvain,

Your 912is engine is electrically controlled and you'll need electronics to diagnose or peer into its inner workings.
The BUDS diagnostic program as Rob stated can be downloaded from the Rotax website, but to make it functional you will need a dongle. These run anywhere from $880-$1087. It is a wire with connectors (USB on one end and a electronic control 9 pin on the other)that plugs into a computer for the 912is engine that will show many parameters on the engine. It shows many many things. An owner may only need a level 1, but a mechanic or owner/mechanic may need a level 2. If you own a 912is engine either you or a mechanic will eventually need one. You will need a dongle to unlock the BUDS program and to hook up your engine diagnostics cable to your computer. This is no different from our fuel injected engines in our cars.

    Hi Sylvain,

You can order one from any Rotax distributor. The level 2 dongle will give you more pages of info. You'll need to decide if a level 1 is okay verses a level 2. If it were me personally I would get a level 2. You can check data logs while the engine is stopped or have it running for more real time information.
