Sorry for two stupid questions about plugs, but here goes: (both refer to NGK DCPR8E).
    1. Should I remove the screw-on removable cap from the top of the plug before connecting the spark plug wire?

    2. Do I apply the 897 186 heat transfer paste to the three innermost threads on the plug, or to all the threads EXCEPT the innermost 3?

    Thanks,

Regarding the paste, you want to avoid putting it on the three deepest threads, the reason being that you don't want to get any on the end of the plug. It takes very little paste.

You want the New plug to look like the one you just took out.
So, Yes the Cap comes off.

The Plug connector must fit properly onto the plug

Line Maintenance Manual Chapter 05-20-00, Section 5.1, Page 15.

You want to apply the Paste to the Middle 4-5 Threads

Thank you, Bill, Roger, and Ken. This is exactly what I need. Bill, special thanks for the references.
Wow, the paste is fantastically expensive!
    This is a great forum,
