Oil leak at oil temperature sensor

It appears I have an oil leak at the temperature sensor. I have taken it out, cleaned it, and reinstalled it twice now and it appears to still be leaking. I hate oil leaks......

Used the 243 thread sealer substitute Permatex high temperature thread sealer.

Is it my installation, I used the proper torque 15 NM (not the 88 inch pound mistake in the manual) or do I need a new probe. Anyone been here with this problem and found a fix?

    Never heard of this problem. Are you sure it is not a leak from the sealing ball? see ASB-912i-007
    Use 243, permetex is a watered down household version.

    yes Bob I did check the ASB-912i-007 and the ball in in there. In fact from putting paper towels and trying to trace the source of the leak it is not the temperature probe nor the sealing ball. It is above all that near the starter/stater case ABOVE the oil pressure probe as best I can tell. I was going to take off the starter and reinstall/torque. Is there some oil seal for a simple fix starter related? :-) I dread it being the interface with the stator case. :-(

    Sorry, but I think it will be the sealing surfaces between the stator housing and crankcase. Did you have the stator replacement done?
    But check the starter oring first. When removing the starter just remove the nuts: Don't turn the long screws!
    Also check-tighten the two screw/nuts adjacent to the starter mounting points.

    Yes I did the stator replacement at 90 hours, now I am at 240. I think, but do not rememnber for sure that I had some pesky leak before the stator change that I did not chase down.

    Perhaps I should get the starter o ring and replace it in concert with the retorgue of the starter mounting bolts.

    Meanwhile I will continue my diaper/paper towel investigation to try and isolate exactly where the leak originates. I get enough, but not to much oil indication with about 2 hours of flight.

    I have recommend Desenex Foot Powder to find hard to locate leaks. Clean the area and spray the white powder around the suspected area. Then run the engine. No matter how small the leak is it will show up like a red flag against the white powder. Works every time. Then once located just wash off the powder.

    p.s.
    With this method you can find oozing or weeping you didn't even know you had because the human eye couldn't pick it up or the flowing air kept the area clean.
