Not terribly difficult. It invloved determining which cylinders were cold and then swapping one injector from the cold cylinder with an injector from a hot (running) cylinder. Restart the engine. If still running rough determine the cold cylinder again. In my case, my engine continued to run rough but the cold cylinder moved to the one that recieved the injector from the original cold cylinder. That was the first indication that fuel injectors may be the issue. At that point I removed and cleaned all 8 injectors and was able to get the engine running properly.
Again, a call to Dean @ Lockwood Aviation would be a good start.

Another Aircraft different engine but still fuel injectored.
We found that despite cleaning the fuel tanks as much as we could there was always crap in them. So the procedure was to run the fuel pumps and filter the fuel through the inline filters for 30 min (approx 20 tank volumes worth) then throw out the filters, install new ones and then try the first start. This way we did not get the "build" particlates entering the injectors and clogging them.
This was with lightweight composite fuel tanks and metal or plastic should be better.
However the point is that using the injectors as fuel filters can be a bad idea, better to filter the rubbish first then install the injectors.

I sprayed WD 40 into the injectors to loosen up the gum probably caused from not running for about year. Then I tapped each injector on a flat surface to remove any remaining stuck particles, followed up with a burst of air.

Just a quick update on this issue. Altough the injectors came back from service some time ago, I've not had an opportunity until today (great weather) to try another start. I'm super happy to say that engine came to life immediately upon engaging the starter and ran incredibly smooth. I'm absolutely elated! On that note, I did have two other issues arise, with one resolved and the other still outstanding. The first issue was an error reported on Lane-A, Cylinder #3 EGT not reporting. I ended up pulling apart the connector and reconnecting and the error went away. I'm guessing when I had the engine in for stator replacement some time ago that the mechanic may not have reconnected he harnes fully. The second issue is fuel pressure, which is too high during running (53psi). I'm opening a separate thread on this.
