To add to what Rotax Wizard stated (which is all correct), when performing a Lane check at around 2,500 RPM, ensure you don’t switch between lanes too quickly; otherwise, you will trigger a generator select actuator fault or failure, which will appear in your ECU data logs.
Rotax specifies in the Operator’s Manual that the switch between lanes should take approximately 3 seconds per step.
Lane A Check: Turn off Lane A and wait for the engine speed to stabilize (about 3 seconds). Then, turn Lane A back on, waiting for the engine to stabilize and the lane light to turn off (approximately 3 seconds). This totals about 6 seconds.
Lane B Check: Turn off Lane B and wait for the engine speed to stabilize (about 3 seconds). Then, turn Lane B back on, waiting for the engine to stabilize and the lane light to turn off (approximately 3 seconds). This totals about 6 seconds.
The entire Lane check procedure should take around 12 seconds, and the engine speed should not drop more than 250 RPM during the test, and the lane lights should turn off within 3 seconds after reactivation.
Additional Information:
Lane A and Lane B have different sensor inputs. During a Lane or ignition check, some sensor values are not displayed, depending on which lane is activated, because each lane controls specific inputs for redundancy in case of a lane failure:
When Lane A is turned off and Lane B is activated, the following sensor values are unavailable:
When Lane B is turned off and Lane A is activated, the following sensor values are unavailable:
