nobody wants to answer this because Rotax has not released what was done to the type 916 to get it to 2000 hours. We already know that they changed some parts inside the gearbox, that is shown in the SI on prop mass inertia and the 916 can handle a much larger mass.
The rumor is the crankcase and crank are different. if that is the case I suspect that their will not be a way to update a 915 unless they change the bottom end completely. We might get some information at Oshkosh in a few weeks.
