ECU Faults
I have a Dynon HDX monitoring my Rotax 912iS..
In flight I went to the Engine FAULT page and found these messages:

These are not Faults. For some reason Dynon show them as faults. What it is indicated are normal status messages. There was a similar post on this forum sometime ago.

Do you know what “Half Sync” indicates on the Rotax iS engine? This is what I think it means (read below) but I would like to verify it.
In the automotive world half-sync means that the ECU only has half of the information it needs for precise ignition timing. Generally this is when the ECU sees the crankshaft position sensor but has not registered the camshaft sensor, and as such does not know the precise position in the 720 degree cycle. The Rotax engine does not have or need a camshaft sensor. It uses the wasted spark method thus does not care if a cylinder is on exhaust or compression stroke. So I’m guessing that “half sync” for the Rotax engine indicates a normal mode of operation, since the ECU never receives information from a camshaft sensor. If this is the case, it would seem that this message is an artifact from the ECU being used in other applications.
