Thanks for the advice. A lot of help has come my way and I appreciate it. When we finally solve the problem I'll post to let you know. It has been a real puzzler.

Roger you may have misunderstood what I was trying to convey. If a battery is low which could be the case if the planes haven't been flow regularly.

When I went to the Rotax school I was under the impression that it took 350 RPM cranking speed to fire the ignition system. If that figure is incorrect I will be the first to thank you for the information. I would appreciate knowing where I may obtain the data so I may make a record of it.

    Hi Dick,

I fully agree that poor battery condition on many planes adds to their starting woes. For new builders it is some times long battery distances coupled with too small a gauge wire or too small a battery.
I got the 240 from Eric Tucker in school, but I did a quick web search and found it there too.

Thank you. When I'm in Oshkosh I will ask Eric and Ronnie Smith about it. I don't question your answer, it was just my understanding attending the Rotax school that it was 350 RPM. Since I may be out in left field I'll remain silent for the time being about the RPM.

    LOL
