    thank you bill,, yours sounds like a good plan 5500 rpm is more than enough. if i could adjust i will do just that thanks tom

    Hi Thomas,

    If you have a fixed pitch prop then yes it will need a new prop and I would highly suggest a ground adjustable prop. I'm personally not much into fixed pitch props any more. They just seem limited.

    I most certainly agreed with Roger Lee. A change of prop is much cheaper than an engine. You really should take Lee's advice seriously.

    The original poster says "I get 5100 rpm on take off", then he says "I throttle back to 4000 rpm for cruise".
    If he is getting 5100 rpm on take off, he will most likely get 5500 rpm or a little more in level flight wide open throttle.
    To me the prop is pitched perfect.
