Help me please.... I have a brand new 912ULS with 8 hrs I just installed that runs great on full power and at cruise power above 4000 RPM. As soon as I pull the power back on decent it starts running rough like shaking the plane rough. I am at sea level and cool temperatures in southeast Alaska. I have another near new engine I can pull parts from so I have changed carbs, ignition modules, and coils. None of the changes have affected the roughness. I have set the needles to full rich to see if that would help. No luck... Pull carb heat during rough decent and it get rougher.... completely lost at this time. Nothing I have done has helped.

Have you done a pneumatic carb sync? or just a mechanical sync? did you go to full power with the gages connected?
It sounds like one throttle cable is hanging up and a carb sync will reveal this problem.
Forget about the ignition system and focus on carburetion.
If the carbs and throttle cables are OK then we can look at other possibilities.

I'm with Rob. Carbs first and most likely culprit.
