Hi,

I have a failure in my Rotax 914
As soon as it reaches about 4,500 RPMs, it starts sputtering.
Removing the airbox from the carbs, the engine will perform flawlessly as a normally aspirated engine, but with the airbox connected, the engine won't rev more than 4,500 rpm.

So I think something's wrong wit the TCU or one of its peripherals.

How can I use the Communication Program to diagnose and find the problem?

Thanks in advance por any help or comment.

Most likely your float bowl(s) have an air leak when you go beyond atmospheric pressure.
do a search for this same topic and you will find lots of information on how to seal the gaskets.
Don't over-tighten the plug screw! you will only bend the float bowl and cause bigger problems.

    Hi, Rob
Thank you for answering my post.
The failure started in the middle of a flight, and after more then one hour into the flight.
Is it possible to have a leak in those conditions?

    Another question:
The leak won't affect in a normally aspirated engine?
Because I disconnected the airbox from the carbs and the engine worked just fine (like a 912 80hp).

I appreciate very much your advice.

It is strange to happen mid-flight, normally it happens after carb maintenance.
The problem does happen if you disconnect the turbo as the float bowl is pressurized via the airbox when the boost goes more than atmospheric.
